In June while I was traveling, I started reading Dennis Lehane's early work about working-class Boston detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro, this month I finished up. I've probably read the series 6 or 7 times. Good writing needs to be re-read.
The Opposite of Everyone is laced with sharp humor and poignant insight, it is Joshilyn Jackson at her very best.
| The Life She Wants by Robyn Carr was an interesting read. I think I'd classify it as women's fiction, but it's not a piece of fluff, it's well written with great characters. The Girls by Emma Kline is a fictionalized account of the Manson Murders. It's a spell-binding debut novel that I highly recommend. |
