The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein
The novel's premise, a dog living a good life so he can be reincarnated as a human, is creative. The execution, told from the dog's point of view, is brilliant. The dog, Enzo, recounts a heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, friendship and hope. Enzo learned much of what he knows about the world by listening carefully to his master and watching television, when he’s home alone; including his theory on reincarnation. The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life, as only a dog could tell it. This one is moving fast, it’ll be on the best seller list, soon.

Great review--sounds like a book I might like. I just joined a reading challenge for Southern books but I think I need to add this one to my never-ending list also. Thanks

Thanks so much for the heads-up on one of my book choices. I had already decided to tackle something not quite so depressing--sometimes I can handle it but not this month. But your observation about the writing being poor just sealed the deal. I once had to participate in a radio review on the worst book I had ever read (I'm sure the author graduated from jr. high) but---anyway it was a face to face with the author and I was determined to not compromise my "principles". I made it through a 1/2 hr interview without ever saying I liked the book or saying anything positive about it. After the author told me what a great interview it was and how much he enjoyed it. He didn't even pick up on it. Either he was really ? or I was really good. And I wasn't that good at it. Anyway he went on to write 6 or 7 additional really bad books --and
ReplyDeletepeople buy them-- I just don't understand. Thanks for your suggestions-- I'm sure i'll go with one of them. Thanks

Is it normal that you would be seeing my future scheduled posts. Not sure why that would work. Let me know how you are seeing it and if I should do something about it to correctly hold it until the scheduled time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the alert.
I may never get the tech side of this blogging.,
I think I know what happened although I know Nothing about "Google Reader". First I've heard of it was when you mentioned it. Told you I was really new at this. I posted both of those posts for a period of about 1 minute to check something(can't remember what now) and then put them both back into draft status. From reading a little about Google Reader since then that is probably why they showed up. Tell me what Google Reader is, does and should I sign up for it- or do I already have it and just don't know it. Thanks for your help. Seems like "it takes a village" to help me at this "blogging" thing.
ReplyDeleteI did it, I did it. Thanks for your help. I think 5 posts is the most allowed on one post at a time. I'm going to get fired.
ReplyDeleteThanks again
